Framer’s Market and Gallery to Host
Four Week “Picture This!” Photo and Framing Fair

“Mural, Mural, on the Wall” – who has the fairest event of all?

The answer can be found at Framer’s Market and Gallery

October 15 thru November 6!

Framer’s Market and Gallery is pleased to present the first ever, “Picture This!” Photo and Framing Fair to celebrate the art of photography, custom framing and historic preservation and restoration.   Events will be hosted in partnership with University Photo & Video, the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill and local artists, such as Michael Brown and Dr. Ruth Winchester Ware.  For four weeks the Framer’s Market and Gallery will offer events, educational opportunities, and fun for the entire family to enjoy.

The festivities begin on Friday, October 15 with a wine (Benjamin Vineyards & Winery) and cheese reception for Dr. Ruth Winchester Ware and an exhibit of her comprehensive photo study of the “Murals of North Carolina.”  The show will include 35 black and white photos on display in the gallery, and the entire collection (over 600 in all) running as a slide show.

On Saturday, October 16, Michael Brown, renowned artist and the painter of the majority of the murals in Chapel Hill will conduct a Trolley Tour of the local Murals.  The tour will begin and end at Framer’s Market and Gallery and will include a day of family activities at Rams Plaza with a live jazz band (sponsored by Bailey’s Sports Grill) and food and entertainment.  We will hold a photo contest designed to celebrate these local works of art.  There will be performances by “The Bouncing Bulldogs”, “The Orange County Jammers” and a “Chalk on the Sidewalk” event  for kids.  Space on the Trolley is limited, so call today to reserve your spot  929-7137.  A major portion of your Trolley Ticket price will benefit the “Painted Walls Project” to preserve and restore these precious local landmarks. The main focus of this year’s restoration effort is “The Sea Turtles” on Columbia Street – so join us to help “SAVE OUR TURTLES!”.   Come for the tour and stay for the fun!

The week of October 17 will focus on the “new” art of Digital Photography with helpful seminars and workshops conducted by professionals in the business and new product demonstrations.

The following week continues the photo theme then culminates with a “doggone” great event hosted by our own director of marketing “Buttons” – “The Fur Ball, a Howl-o-ween Pets-in-Costume Portrait Party.”  We will have a professional photographer on-hand to take your pet’s photo in his/her favorite costume with a variety of special print and framing packages available.  The day will include a “Rescue Me” pet adoption sponsored by the Orange County Animal Services Center.

Custom Framing, preservation and restoration become the theme on November 1, as our experts make educational presentations on saving and restoring your memories.

On Saturday, November 6, our “finale” will bring the curtain down with a Street Fair sponsored by Rams Plaza merchants with lots of entertaining surprises.  Winners of the Photo Contests will be announced and a blue ribbon panel of judges will be on-hand to congratulate the winners and answer your questions on photography, the Murals and the meaning of life.  A silent auction including works by Michael Brown will also be held to benefit “The Painted Walls Project” in its mural restoration effort.  You don’t want to miss it!

We look forward to seeing you at one or all of our events!

I have attached a calendar for your convenience. Please call or drop by if you have any questions.
